There are a hundred reasons why camping is a great family activity. I didn’t camp as a child, and I would consider myself more of a “faux camper” because I have a trailer and some pretty great conveniences, but I go because I think it is good for my son. After spending almost four summers in the beautiful forests of B.C., I can’t imagine our life without it….and here’s why:
1. We save money: Nearly every Canadian locality is within close proximity to some kind of wilderness, which means it won’t take you much gas to get to a decent place for a camping trip. The average fee for a capsite is usually between $10.00-$20.00 per night, MUCH cheaper than a hotel room. If tenting isn’t your thing, you could buy yourself a trailer by forgoing one family vacation abroad (which is what we did), and investing that money in your new home on wheels. Our son was less than a year old when we bought our (very) used trailer. We knew that travel far from home was going to be a little more challenging on us and our wallet in the first few years of his life, but we still wanted to “get away”. We have never regretted the purchase. We have used it on road trips as well as “park and camp” trips, and LOVED the convenience of it. On the road, if you need to stop for a potty, nap or lunch, everything is right there behind you.

As of the time of writing this, the Vancouver Canucks have just booked their ticket to the Stanley Cup finals and hockey fans from around the country are getting excited. The possibility of a Canadian team winning the Cup has definitely created a buzz north of the border. However, it's not just in Canada that you can hear the excitement and it's not just the Canucks booking their tickets - anyone watching Vancouver's road games in San Jose will have noted the numerous chants of "Luuuu!" from the stands, encouraging goalie Roberto Luongo on. While a number of these Canucks fans in attendance live in the U.S., a large number had made their way down from the great white north in order to cheer their team on.
Road trips to watch sports can be big business - think of the money places invest to host Olympics, World Cups, and Superbowls. They can also be a heck of a lot of fun and a great excuse for a vacation.
Bid adieu to overpriced vacations with luxury travel auctions. Here’s a look at how they work and a few tips to get you started:
What are they?
An online travel auction is a public sale at which travel products and services are sold online to the highest bidder. You can bid on hotel rooms, villas, vacations, high-end tours and even cruises.
How do they work?
Travel auction sites pull their inventory from a wide array of suppliers and negotiate the best deals. They set the starting bid on packages and then the bidding frenzy begins. If you have the winning bid, you can pick your travel dates within the designated travel period.
There's a pretty big fare war going on from U.S. cities to Hawaii at the moment. Right now, prices are very low throughout December to March of 2012.

Best known as the “City of Lights,” Paris oozes with charm, whether you’re strolling les Champs Elysees or you find yourself hidden away in a cozy café on a side street far from the busyness of this French capital.
Despite its image of romance and sophistication, large cities like Paris can be daunting for the first-time visitor.
So, we’ve put together these Paris survival tips of the best in “what you need to know before you go.”
Urban Travel Survival Tips: Paris
Know when to visit Paris. Visit during spring (April through June) or fall (September through November) to avoid large crowds but enjoy the city just the same. For much of August, many locals head out on town on vacation so aside from popular tourist areas, many neighbourhood restaurants and shops may be closed.
